Nelson Mandela International Day is celebrated as an opportunity for people and organisations to give back to their communities, to change lives and make a difference. Decision Inc. believes that the day, and the man it represents, are incredibly important to the growth and transformation of South Africa. On Tuesday 18 July, the Decision Inc. team embarked on a mission to make a difference at the Mother of Peace community in Northriding, Johannesburg.

“We are committed to supporting the Mother of Peace community in Johannesburg,” says Nick Bell, CEO, Decision Inc. “The school provides orphaned and abandoned children with a structured, nurturing environment where they receive love, care and education and an opportunity to thrive. Working with this school was a rewarding experience for all of us.”

Decision Inc. employees participated in two different Mandela Day initiatives. They planted seedling’s in bottles to donate to the Mother of Peace’s vegetable garden, and took part in home improvements at the home. The home improvements included painting the car port and installing a much needed car port cover, as well as installing soccer goal posts with nets. A active and productive day was concluded with a braai for the children and all who participated.

“At Decision Inc. we believe that the next generation is so critical to the success of our country. By working with a foster home such as Mother of Peace, we can help the next generation achieve great things.” Nicholas Bell CEO, Decision Inc.

The Mother of Peace community started in 1997 in Zimbabwe and expanded to Johannesburg and KwaZulu Natal. These communities are home for more than 200 children. The North Riding foster home is run by volunteers who have dedicated their lives to looking after the children.
