The Challenge

As NEOM continues to scale rapidly, so too does its capability to generate data from a wide array of sources. More than ever, it is imperative that high-quality, trusted data from all facets of the organisation is placed into the hands of decision makers to drive the organisation forward.

As part of an ongoing strategic partnership, NEOM collaborated with Decision Inc. to deliver the first phase of a multistage data platform journey — beginning with a finance-led transformation to enable data-driven decision-making at scale. The project was designed to achieve three key objectives:

  • Governance

Establish clear data lineage, consistent KPI definitions, and autonomous monitoring of data quality issues to enhance trust and transparency in financial reporting.

  • Data Sharing & Security

Ensure that access to finance data is provisioned only to authorised personnel, whilst being available in multiple formats to support a wide range of analytical and operational use-cases.

  • Self-Service

Empower authorised users across the organisation to confidently access and utilise certified financial data to support informed decisions at all levels.

How Decision Inc. Delivered

The migration to Microsoft Fabric offered NEOM a pivotal upgrade to the data architecture underpinning its finance reporting. This modern platform not only meets the initial requirements around governance and security but also unlocked new capabilities in real-time analytics, machine learning, and AI.

Built on a Lakehouse architecture, Microsoft Fabric provides a unified and cost-effective platform for NEOM's data needs. A Data Lakehouse combines the flexibility of data lakes with the performance and structure of data warehouses — enabling both raw data storage and analytics-ready insights in a single, integrated platform.

Delivering a Future-Ready Platform

Beyond the core architecture, the platform was designed to unlock advanced capabilities that position NEOM for the next phase of its data journey:

Data Agents

Take conversational language from users and convert it into insight within seconds — no technical skills required.

Machine Learning Models

Detect patterns invisible to the human eye, extracting precious value from previously untapped unstructured data.

Predictive Models

Provide intelligent forecasts by breaking down data silos and harnessing the full power of a Lakehouse architecture.

Artificial intelligence has revolutionised the way organisations interact with, analyse, and present data. By placing the foundations of a modern data platform, financial data is now ready to be used across multiple AI and advanced analytics workloads.

04 · Community of Practice

Building Internal Capability

Following the implementation of Microsoft Fabric, Decision Inc. played a key role in driving and supporting NEOM in building internal capabilities by actively contributing to the development of its Community of Practice. This initiative is central to fostering the adoption of best practices, ensuring consistency across the organisation, and empowering end-users to work more effectively with data.

80+
Users per session

Through monthly training sessions engaging an average of 80 end-users per session, we promoted a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning. This community enables teams to grow their data expertise, stay aligned with organisational standards, and keep pace with emerging capabilities.
