What Will You Do?
Key Responsibilities of the Azure Data Engineer:
Data Engineer must have experience working in a global enterprise environment. Must have excellent working knowledge in traditional and modern data warehouse design, reporting and analytics architecture, including big data and MS Azure data warehouse technology stack
The Azure Data Engineer is responsible for:
- Responsible for developing data warehouse reporting & analytics platform to facilitate storage, visualisation, analysis and access to data across the enterprise
- Develop the work package as per the design to deliver elements of data warehouse architecture (reporting data model, data ingestion, ETL, analytics etc.)
- Document & develop data model, data structures, interfaces (ETL) and data movement.
- Ensure data model developed is in line with the defined data architecture and/or with program objectives.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and functional teams to understand reporting needs
- Assist BI & Reporting architect with POC & evaluation of design concepts
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of reporting data assets
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using Microsoft, Azure, AWS, GCP, technologies etc. .
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
- Assists support desk where applicable
Who do you need to be to become an Azure Data Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Engineering or IT).
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Data warehouse products
- Understanding of Azure BI services is a must. General Azure knowledge on Azure AD, Key Vault etc preferred
- At least 3 years of extensive hands on experience in design and development of data warehouse, ETL & analytics platform using Microsoft and Big data technologies is a must
- Working knowledge of traditional, No SQL database & data integration platforms is a must
- SQL Server, Azure SQL, SSIS, Azure Data Factory (Experience with migrating data using USQL, Azure Integration Runtimes)
- Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Bricks (Experience analyzing DAG flows and designing around best practices) and Spark
- Experience in Python preferred
- Experience in developing data warehouse solution for Microsoft D365 is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to design and develop multi-dimensional cubes & dimensional modelling
- Good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
- A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field or a Engineering.
Master’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
